Xinhua | Updated:2016-12-03 10:11BEIJING – Premier Li Keqiang said greater emphasis should be placed on vocational education in a written instruction delivered to a symposium on vocational education held in Beijing on Friday.
Various sectors should work together to establish high-level vocational schools and ensure faculty have outstanding technical skills and craftsmanship, said Li when instructing the symposium.
Vocational education helps give full play to Chinas advantages in human resources, and will enhance the competitiveness of the real economy, Li said.
The premier said vocational education should be integrated with the innovation and entrepreneurship drive, industrial upgrading, job creation and poverty reduction.
Vice Premier Liu Yandong, at the symposium, called for vocational education to play a greater role in the decisive stage of building a moderately well-off society in all respects.
Liu suggested building junior vocational schools in poverty-stricken areas as young people in poor regions would gain from mastering a practical skill.Related StoriesPremier Li expresses condolences over death of Fidel CastroPremier Li Keqiang visits Shanghai free trade zonePremier Li urges joint efforts to boost global healthPhotoHeart-warming railway track offers free rides to passengersFirst subway line in Shandong province opensSevere smog envelops BeijingYear in review: Global events held in ChinaSWAT team members participate in trainingAerial view of triple-loop spiral bridge in ChongqingLatestYoung doctor on stretcher races against clock trying to save lifeHigh school teacher introduces emoticons into examsHeart-warming railway track offers free rides to passengers2 killed in SW China food poisoningTwist on tradition cures rural woesState Council NewsMedical insurance to be linked nationwide by end of 2016State Council measures help reduce taxes and costsExclusiveYear in review: Global events held in ChinaXis nationwide journey against povertyChinas latest scientific achievementsEditors picksXinjiang becomes playground for 30 million winter visitorsTwist on tradition cures rural woesTen photos you dont wanna missTen photos from around China: Dec 9-15SpecialBattle against povertySixth plenum of 18th CPC Central CommitteeBACK TO THE TOPHOMECHINAWORLDBUSINESSLIFESTYLECULTURETRAVELWATCHTHISSPORTSOPINIONREGIONALFORUMNEWSPAPERChina Daily PDFChina Daily E-paperMOBILECopyright 1995 -var oTime = new Date();
